Creating a summertime paradise for this garden-loving couple involved many goals and objectives. The design not only needed to fit their style, their new home and the beautiful environment, but also their personalities including their love of the outdoors and whimsical art.The lot demanded some creativity due a stringent set back awkwardly angled to one corner of the house and as in all lakefront lots, impervious limits had to be monitored closely. The need for privacy from neighbors and lake activity while framing the panoramic view that the lot provided was a must. A kitchen patio off the upper deck offered a perfect spot for morning coffee sipping and breakfast dining. The lower patio is ideal for entertaining including an outdoor dining bar, built in grill and sitting areas. It also includes a sunken burning ring area with built-in benches and a slightly raised hot tub for perfect, yet intimate views of the lake.
raditional materials including natural flagstone and tumbled pavers are incorporated in non-conventional methods making the hardscape truly a one-of-a-kind work of art. A later phase involved enhancements of existing old terraces on the lake side and restoration of natural, native plant material on the shore front.
