A Note from Darrel
Marilyn and I sold Woodside Nursery in New Jersey in 2007 and moved to our home town area of Wild Rose, Wisconsin. I did not give up on hybridizing daylilies because the whole process had become a life style. Once in Wisconsin we converted part of the basement to banks of lights for growing seedlings and purchased two adjacent village lots which have become the outdoor trial grounds Each year I plant about 2500 seedlings and select some of the best new plants. Now after 10 years we have several plants that seem worthy of introduction (none of these are patented and all have come through zone 4 winters with lows in the minus 30’s).
One of my promises to myself was to not get back into a retail business and for sure not to be sending out hundreds of small boxes each year. This summer we had the good fortune to have a nearby garden center, Graziano Gardens offer to introduce our plants (several will be available on site and some limited mail order will be available).
